FLYING THE CHILD’S HOPE at the Portland Classical Chinese Garden
October 6, 2022 thru December 27, 2021

Portland,Ore- As the fragrance of osmanthus permeates the Portland Classical Chinese Garden, come and view the Garden’s latest exhibit. Afterwards, enjoy a light meal and tea in our teahouse as you reflect on the poignancy of the art.  Flying the Child’s Hope is a collection of Chinese children’s art describing the world they believe they will inherit when they grow up. Will they see trees or blue sky?  The art unites children of all ages and ethnicities through common environmental concerns and encourages exchange in a cultural arena. The exhibit was organized by The 1990 Institute and China’s Center for Environmental Education and Communication in collaboration with the China National Children’s Center in Beijing.

Experience the entire collection of 80 paintings by visiting The Portland Classical Chinese Garden and the Portland Children’s Museum between now and December 27th, 2005.  We thank The Paul G. Allen Foundation and the Union Bank of California for making this exhibit possible in Portland.

The Portland Classical Chinese Garden is located at Northwest Third and Everett in Portland. Regular admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5.50 for students; children 5 and under are free. Some schools may qualify for field trip funding.  Call Elena Gold at 503-228-8131. The Garden is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Visit http://www.portlandchinesegarden.org
