Lan Su Yuan, the Portland Classical Chinese Garden is a self-sustaining nonprofit organization, we rely upon you to keep our cultural heritage garden growing.

A Gift to the Garden

As a maturing Garden, we face new challenges of ensuring financial stability. Through good business practices, the Garden’s visitors and rentals cover 84% of the Garden’s needs.  However, like many other cultural organizations, the Garden is a nonprofit because it needs community support to fully deliver its mission.

Our goal is to raise $200,000 by the end of the year to support the Garden. We need donations at all levels. We sincerely hope you will consider helping us meet our fundraising goal by making a gift.

Every gift to the Garden, regardless of amount, is special and we hope to demonstrate to you personally how much we appreciate it. Your gift is fully tax deductible.

For additional information or to make a gift in honor or memory of someone special to you, please call our development office at 503.228.8131 ext. 1026 or send an email to , the Garden’s Director of Development.

The Garden’s Naming Opportunities

Created to nurture and inspire all who visit, Lan Su Yuan is little changed from what might have greeted visitors during the Ming Dynasty in China. Portland’s is an authentic Suzhou-style garden that grew out of a friendship between Portland and Suzhou, a city renowned for its exquisite gardens.

The Portland Classical Chinese Garden needs and is grateful for gifts of all amounts. We recognize all donors through Garden publications and for large contributions, Lan Su Yuan will offer donor recognition through the naming of available buildings, courtyards, pavilions, Lake Tai rocks, and Leak Windows.

Lan Su Yuan’s Leak Windows - each with a unique design depicting nature or a geometric pattern - invite a “borrowed view,” sharing a glimpse of the verdant beauty that lies beyond. Create your own lasting legacy at the Portland Classical Chinese Garden and name a Leak Window for your family or yourself.
